The current issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education has an article about endowment spending at universities, and while it essentially has nothing to do with the rest of the discussion on this blog, those of you who went (or go) to universities with endowments might be interested in it.
To summarize briefly Charles Grassley wants to force universities to spend at least 5% of their endowments every year with the assumption that this will lower tuition. The Chronicle disagrees.

I was back at Princeton and went to hear Fazal speak. He was amazing, and I highly recommend going to see him if he speaks near you. He’s a Macarthur Genius grant winning photographer/activist/Princeton alum. You can see much of his work, including digital editions of some of the books he’s published on his website.
